Xu takes over management from Barnett, who recently moved to the post of EIBTM exhibition director.

Xu was previously deputy general manager of Super Events, a China-based ‘sports presentation and victory ceremony' consultancy.

At Super Events, he worked on the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2009 East Asian Games in Hong Kong, and 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.

He has also worked as general manager at international sport communications company Aristeia, and as deputy general manager of Australian broadcaster Seven Network.

Reed Travel Exhibitions head of marketing and buyer programme Mandy Torrens said: "As a Mandarin speaker, Jeffrey's experience and knowledge of China and Asia will prove invaluable in growing CIBTM, developing China Meetings Week and working closely with partners and supporters of the show, which include the Beijing Tourism Administration and China National Tourism Administration."
