Positive outlook for Middle East events

Event planners predict stable or increased budgets and more events to be held in the Middle East in 2010, according to GIBTM 2010's Middle East Meetings Industry Research Report.

More than a third of event planners surveyed said 2010 event budgets in the region have increased, and 47% said they remained the same.
 
More than half of buyers surveyed predicted they would organise more events in the region in 2010.
 
Incentive travel remained the key type of event being held in the region last year, the survey revealed.

36% of the 458 buyers from 57 destinations who responded to the survey said they organised incentives in the region, followed by meetings - 27%.
 
Dubai remained the most popular events destination in the region, followed by Egypt and Abu Dhabi.
 
However, Abu Dhabi was named the second most popular destination for 2010 events 2010.
 
The average size of events grew from 154 delegates in 2008 to 207 in 2009, the survey claimed.
