What's your new job all about?
I'll be focusing on getting a thorough understanding of all our overseas markets. We need to get clear insight into what the people in these markets who organise corporate events, incentives and association meetings want.
What's your background?
I previously worked for the Hong Kong Tourism Board in London as its director for northern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before that, I worked at Visit Britain in a number of roles, the most recent of which was regional marketing manager for Europe.
How will you help Britain win business events?
We want to undertake more activity in this sector and provide platforms for the industry to showcase itself to overseas markets. If a city is bidding to host an event, we will support it through our overseas connections. We have links to influential players like ambassadors who can help to support bids.
Will you organise any networking events for the sector?
Once we have worked out who the main players are in the various overseas markets, we can then organise networking events for suppliers with buyers in their home countries in order to help drive business.
