Around 108,500 events were held in the German capital in 2009. Latest figures suggested that C&I accounted for five million room nights between January and December 2009, an increase of six per cent over the previous year.
The most successful sectors included the medical, pharmaceutical and media and communications, while the average meeting length remained at 1.5 days, the same figure as 2008.
BCO chief executive Burkhard Kieker said: "Berlin as a convention destination countered the effects of the crisis in 2009 in true sporting fashion. The World Championships in Athletics attracted numerous corporate events to the German capital.
"This year we wish to continue our successful run by stepping up our commitment on important markets like the United Kingdom and with our own office in the US."
