The Certificate in Creating & Managing Events course will begin at the university's UK Centre for Events Management in February.
It is designed to give business people the skills and knowledge to take advantage of the opportunities afforded by festivals and events in the region.
Comprising six two-day workshops, the course will cover subjects including event marketing, risk assessments and creative training.
Glenn Bowdin, head of the UK Centre for Events Management, said: "With more than four million delegates visiting Leeds annually, as well as thousands of festival attendees, we are sure that more individuals and organisations could be capitalising on the sector.
"We hope the new Certificate in Creating & Managing Events will help to enhance the competitiveness of businesses in the region and strengthen our events economy even further."
