The Grand Central Hotel is expected to reopen in September with an enhanced offer to conference and meeting planners.
The project will include restoration work within the hotel's Grand Ballroom, which has capacity for up to 600 delegates.
Additional meeting and event space on the mezzanine and first floors comprises 20 rooms, including smaller rooms for groups of up to 15 and larger rooms for up to 250 delegates.
The Grand Central Hotel also has a dedicated business centre offering production and catering services for meeting planners.
A new Champagne Bar will be created as part of the refurbishment, along with a delicatessen, restaurant and bar.
The Grand Central Hotel sales manager Leanne Scobie said: "When the Grand Central Hotel reopens later this year, it will be the standout venue for conferences and banqueting events in Glasgow.
"This is one of the most iconic buildings in the city and our refurbishment will bring it back to its glory days. We have excellent meeting rooms that are fully flexible, while our Grand Ballroom will be one of the most sought-after spaces in the city."
