BDRC's Annual Venue Verdict Awards also named Etc Venues' Maple House in Birmingham as number one conference centre, while the Sundial Group was the best performing brand, with an 81% approval rating of its three residential conference centres during 2009.

Sundial Group managing director Tim Chudley said: "A year ago, our team agreed the goal of achieving number one position as the favourite venue group for UK meeting planners. To achieve this accolade and retain our status as best value for money speaks volumes."

In addition to the Park Plaza Cardiff and Maple House in Birmingham, 17 other venues were awarded the Gold Standard:

  • Barnett Hill, Guildford
