The agency ran 45 events last year, around 75% of which were in the final quarter, with a doubling of Christmas party bookings, compared with 2008, being a major contributor.
Pure Event Management managing director Charlotte Wilson said clients in the IT and financial sectors that had cancelled staff parties last Christmas had returned with bookings for 2009, albeit with smaller budgets.
"Last Christmas, if companies had a party, there were small, departmental parties. But in the last weeks of 2009 we ran parties for average groups of around 200 employees, although we had to work hard to source venues within lower budgets," she added.
Pure Event Management, which began a downsizing process in 2008, is entering 2010 in a healthy position, said Wilson.
"We are involved in pitches for about 25 events at the moment, ranging from overseas incentive trips to business conferences," she added. "This year our target is is to repeat what we did in 2009, but I suspect we will actually do better."
