Strachan, who is AstraZeneca's global category leader for business travel and the Institute of Travel & Meetings (ITM) immediate past chair, has taken on the post of NBTA Europe chair for a two-year term.

NBTA Europe was launched today as an expansion of the NBTA, which bills itself as the largest global association for corporate travel professionals.

The Europe branch will provide corporates with the "first buyer-led multinational European business travel and meetings network".

ITM will manage NBTA Europe, which will be led by the buyer-led advisory board and a partnership council.

Partner associations, including the Danish Business Travel Association, Iberian Business Travel Association of Spain, Netherlands Association for Travel Management, Norwegian Business Travel Association, and Swedish Business Travel Association, will retain a seat on the partnership council to ensure NBTA Europe retains a European focus.

Strachan said: "NBTA Europe will bring a new collective business travel buyer voice to the European community. Together, NBTA Europe members and partner organisations will take the issues we experience in each of our countries and create a representative position to discuss with the industry and governments."
