The GCB executive board has has established a recruitment committee to search for Vogt's successor, with deputy managing director Anke Pruust standing in.
Vogt said the decision to accept a partial retirement offer and end his secondment to the GCB had been a difficult one. "Even after all these years, the meetings and conventions industry has still lost none of its excitement for me," he said.
Since being appointed managing director of the GCB in 2001, Vogt played an integral role in establishing the Imex trade show in Germany. He has also helped the GCB grow its membership to more than 250 hotels, venues and supply companies.
