McDonald's among Glasgow's conference wins

A McDonald's managers conference for 1,500 delegates was among 94 new conference wins confirmed for Glasgow between April and November.

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau confirmed new conference wins over the past seven months that will attract 42,255 delegates and generate £50.6m for the local economy.
 
Confirmed bookings include the Scottish Learning Festival for 3,500 delegates, The Social Brain 3 event for 1,500, the 1000-delegate Congress of the International Association for Paediatric Dentistry and the fast food company McDonald's managers conference for 1,500.
 
Glasgow City Marketing Bureau's Convention Bureau head Molly Doheny said: "It has been a very challenging year for the meetings industry globally, so we are delighted that Glasgow has managed to secure so much business in this highly competitive environment."
 
Glasgow is set to see the opening of more than 2,500 new hotel beds by 2012, including the five-star, 160-room Jumeirah Glasgow, the 230-room Jury's Inn and the 170-room Grand Central Hotel.
