Motivcom group executive director Nigel Cooper, who topped the 2007 and 2008 rankings, came a close second, with Tesco's Kate Conway in third place.

Jack Morton's Julian Pullan and AstraZeneca's Caroline Strachan took the fourth and fifth spots. They were followed by BI's Mark Taylor, Barclays' Sarah Wright, Zibrant's Fay Sharpe, PWC's Samantha van Leeuwen and Line Up's Duncan Beale, who completed the top ten.

The final 50 were revealed last night to a crowd of more than 100 industry experts, including event planners from brands such as Schroders, Indesit, Tesco, and the COI, and many of the 100 people shortlisted for this year's Power 50.

They took part in the final vote using technology provided by Smart AV, which was weighted to make up 10% of the overall vote. These were added to the 4,000 votes already received online and at live events from September.
