SHEEPDROVE ECO CONFERENCE CENTRE, BERKSHIRE
Meeting spaces:
Five event spaces ranging from the beanbag-filled Rook's Nest to the Oak Room, the main meeting space that can seat 200 delegates. The Boat House was added in 2008 for training and meetings for up to 15. Accommodation is due to follow in the next year.
Sustainable index:
It won the Green Venue Event Award 2008. Initiatives include using recycled or renewable materials during construction. Electricity is from 100 per cent renewable supplies, while a solar panel pre-heats water for the boilers. Its reed bed system annually recycles seven million litres of waste water.

EXCEL LONDON
Meeting spaces:
In addition to a range of rooms, the 65,000m2 Event Halls have capacity for 42,750 delegates. A 23,590m2 space will open in spring 2010, with capacity for 26,000. The Auditorium, also opening in 2010, will seat up to 5,000 delegates and the Conference Suite will offer 17 rooms for up to 2,000.
Sustainable index:
Has its own materials recycling facility, a wormery for food waste and a £14m energy centre housing three boilers, three chillers and two back-up generators.

EARLS COURT AND OLYMPIA, LONDON
Meeting space:
More than 100,000m2 of flexible event space, purpose-built conference centres for up to 500 delegates, and more than 2,000m2 of hospitality suites and private rooms at both venues.
Sustainable index:
The group won the 2008 AEO Sustainability Excellence Award and the Visit London Sustainable Tourism Award. The venue's sustainable development policy includes engaging with customers and suppliers on sustainability issues, assessing sustainability risks and opportunities presented by hosting

ACC LIVERPOOL
Meeting spaces:
The BT Convention Centre at ACC Liverpool has 1,350 seats, a 3,725m2 multi-purpose hall and 18 further meeting rooms. Total exhibition space is in excess of 7,000m2. The adjoining Echo Arena Liverpool has 11,000 seats.
Sustainable index:
The £164m venue is designed to produce half the CO2 emissions of a traditional building. The electricity supply is from a green energy provider. Five 20-metre low-noise wind turbines contribute to the venues electricity provision. Rainwater is collected and provides around 40 per cent of the water needed to flush toilets. The venue has won two Green Apple Awards, is working towards IS014001 and has recently been awarded the gold standard in the Green Business Tourism Scheme assessment.

THE PINES CALYX CONFERENCE CENTRE, EAST KENT
Meeting spaces:
The first floor Upper Roundel events space features natural lighting, rammed chalk walls, a recovered Japanese Maple wooden floor, and direct access to the Pines Calyx terrace. The space offers capacity for 203 delegates. The circular, domed Lower Roundel offers panoramic views across the Pines Garden towards the avenue of elms and lake and has capacity for 134 delegates. The seminar room has capacity for 30.
Sustainable index:
The purpose-built, zero-carbon venue's design fuses cutting-edge technology and ancient building techniques. Green credentials include walls made from chalk reclaimed from the excavation of the sites, a timbrel-vaulted roof made from tiles made out of waste clay salvaged from local quarrying, and locally sourced materials.
