An international tyre brand has appointed marketing communications agency 2112 to run a live-events programme for distributors and retail outlets.

The UK agency is finalising its proposals for the programme, which is likely to include conferences, roadshows and team building. It will also handle the manufacturer's presence at the Essen Motor Show 2010 in Germany.

It is the latest in a series of wins for 2112, founded in Northampton by Richard Nicholson and Dorian Tompkins, who both worked for Opus before it was acquired by Rapiergroup in 2007.

Tompkins said: "For a small agency, we have great clients and the new business we have won shows that our approach is working."

2112, whose other clients include electronics brands Philips and Blackberry, is succeeding in recession because it is small, flexible and client-focused, its founders claim.

Nicholson said: "The focus on marketing expense has sharpened considerably and agencies need to react and to change - by offering consultative support and value-added services alongside our fundamental offer."
