The company anticipates appointing up to three DMCs in each of its predetermined "lower-tier and resort destinations".
Ovation has demanded that DMCs seeking preferred supplier status must demonstrate experience of handling high-level meetings, incentives, conferences and events.
The new initiative follows a strategic partner programme launched in June, which has increased Ovation's number of alliances in Europe, Mexico and North America to eight. These partnerships, plus 18 wholly-owned offices on four continents, are centred in major destinations while preferred suppliers will look after less prominent locations.
The strategic partner and preferred supplier programmes are being managed by former SITE president Hugo Slimbrouck and Ovation procurement director Olivier Buton.
Slimbrouck said: "I've met so many excellent DMCs and now look forward to working with them to deliver seamless destination services to our association, corporate and agency clients."
