The Holland Showcase will take place on 4-5 December to highlight The Hague, Utrecht and Amsterdam.

The two-day programme will offer workshops, site inspections and networking opportunities and aims to showcase the country's venue offer ahead of new hotel openings.

The first event was held in September and hosted 20 event planners in Noordwijk, Rotterdam and Maastricht, including BNP Paribas and the Health Protection Agency.

The marketing event coincides with a series of venue developments, including the launch of Hotel Okura Amsterdam's culinary centre in December, where delegates can learn how to prepare the Okura's chefs' dishes, and the Wereldmuseum in Rotterdam, which will reopen after a two-year refurbishment in December with capacity for 650.

Also in Rotterdam, Inntel Hotels plans to build new sister hotel next to the four-star Golden Tulip Rotterdam Centre.

The five-star hotel will have around 200 rooms and is set to open in 2012.

Further Netherlands venue developments:

  • Apollo Hotel Breda City Centre completed a refurbishment in August, and now offers 88 rooms, 13 meeting spaces and a redesigned lobby, bar and restaurant.
  • The four-star WTC hotel opened in Leeuwarden in September, with a direct entrance to the WTC exhibition halls. It offers 143 rooms and a bar, brasserie and restaurant.
  • Hotel Pullitzer Amsterdam opened a new restaurant, Restaurant Keizersgracht 238, in September, serving local produce prepared on a lava stone grill.
  • The Expo Hall in Madurodam reopened following a refurbishment in September, and offers 800sqm space for 500 delegates.
