Confex adds hosted buyer programme

International Confex is introducing a hosted-buyer programme to the 2010 show to encourage more big-budget client and agency event planners to attend.

This is the first time the show, which is in its 27th year, has run a hosted buyer programme, and more than 100 buyers from the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Ireland will be invited to participate.

"We want to attract big buyers who organise large events and anything we can do to make their decision to attend that much easier, we'll do," said show portfolio director Duncan Reid.

The programme will include complimentary travel, accommodation and a two-day itinerary dedicated to providing business opportunities, professional development and inspirational ideas.

Reid said that accommodation and transport partners had already been lined up for the programme, which is an extension of the show's existing VIP programme.

Other new features for next year's show include a PA Day targeted at those secretaries and personal assistants who organise events. Features will include Nirvana, a relaxation oasis offering free spa treatments, fashion shows and educational programmes.

""There are lots of senior PAs and secretaries who organise some quite big-budget events, and while many of them may already attend Confex, putting on a specific PA day will encourage them to come, and also enable exhibitors to tailor their offer on that day," explained Reid.

There will also be a new Great Outdoors area, which will showcase six pagoda-style peak roof tents featuring a range of exhibitors from the world of outdoor events. Another new feature, The Theme Factory, will give six different them specialists the opportunity to theme an area and showcase their talent.
