Pfizer has been reviewing its event agency roster and in June its European meeting and congress category lead, (procurement), Andrew Gilkerson, said the agency consolidation project was due for completion in September.

Gilkerson was unavailable for comment today.

A spokeswoman for Universal Procon said the agency's decision to propose a restructure was made before Pfizer announced the new roster.

"The Pfizer account has definitely gone to another agency but the proposals were made before that announcement," she said. "Universal Procon had a quarterly strategic business review and the decision to propose a restructure came from there."

Universal Procon's staff consultation is scheduled to be complete at the end of October and redundancies are possible. "If individuals want to go down that route, it's a possibility," she said.

She said the agency was continuing to win new business: "It was confirmed yesterday that Universal has won business with a new client, which we can't name."
