Latta's appointment followed a vote by Eventia members in favour of the new membership category for corporate, association and public sector members last month. Latta will represent these members needs in the category.

Latta said: "Joining the Board of Eventia at this point in its history, with the present economic challenges and the changes the events industry is experiencing, is an opportunity that I look forward to with a sense of excitement and anticipation. Eventia is taking the lead in representing the needs of the corporate events community, and being part of this evolution and having the opportunity to influence its progression is a role that I look forward to."

Eventia chief executive Izania Downie said: "The board warmly welcome Andrew into the fold; he is an experienced and well respected events professional.  We are looking forward to the input and viewpoint that he can bring to the table, and the balance that he will provide representing this new membership category."
