The company, Solutionz By Izania, will offer communications, marketing and brand positioning services.

A medical association, automotive industry organisation, and a New Zealand-based publishing company are among her first clients.

Downie will operate the company part time in addition to serving three days a week at Eventia.

She maintained that she initiated the reduction in her hours but said that Eventia would not be bringing in anyone else to job share to make up the chief executive role to five days a week.

"We've completed a couple of big projects including the merger with the BACD and the website, which I worked on, so there's now capacity within the existing Eventia team to do the work that needs to be done," said Downie.

She added that it was a coincidence that project director Tony Rogers had opted to take voluntary redundancy at the same time and Eventia had not initiated the moves.
