Eventia members voted in favour of allowing corporate, public sector and association buyers to join the trade body at an EGM at the Summer Eventia conference in Brighton yesterday.
Newly elected Eventia chair Mark Taylor said at the EGM that the board had discussed the issue for the past six months and was unanimous in the view that corporates should be allowed to become members.
Among the full members at the EGM, the vote in favour of the motion was almost unanimous.
Taylor told C&IT: "Corporate membership is key to the successful growth of our association. We need to engage with them and see how we can include them and understand their objectives."
At the end of the conference, Eventia revealed that Glasgow would host the 2010 summer conference.
