Alton Towers Resort has opened up its new pirate-themed aquarium to the corporate events market.

Sharkbait Reef by Sea Life contains more than 300 spectacular species of fish, including sharks, rays and seahorses, and can host 150 delegates.

The aquarium features a walk-through ten-metre Ocean Tank Tunnel and a tropical interactive pool.

Alton Towers Resort head of corporate events and trade sales Dominique Sidley said: "We aim to offer a unique, creative environment for conferences, as well as traditional corporate packages."

Recent events held at Alton Towers include a cooking event for home appliance brand Belling in May.

Celebrity Master Chef winner Liz McClarnon attended the event, which saw 100 schoolchildren attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the most people cooking simultaneously.
