The Royal Aeronautical Society has chosen Manchester Central Convention Complex to host the 2009 Council of European Aerospace Societies (CEAS) Air and Space Conference.

Space travel and military air-power development, as well as environmental and technical challenges in the aeronautical industry, are among the topics that will be tackled at the conference entitled New Beginnings: Challenges for Aerospace Innovation.

Up to 1,000 aerospace professionals, companies and organisations are anticipated to attend the conference on 26-29 October.

Royal Aeronautical Society conference and events manager Lorraine Reese said: "CEAS 2009 will offer companies, research and academic institutions and the society's partner nations a unique platform to showcase their brands, products and technologies to the aerospace industry."

The conference includes a gala dinner at the Concorde Conference Centre at Manchester Airport's aviation viewing park.
