The pharmaceutical industry's ‘recession-proof' reputation within the events sector will be debated at C&IT's Brand Book Live event on 30 June. While budgets are holding their own for scientific meetings with education at their core, international pharmaceutical conferences are facing the growing challenge of attracting both delegates and sponsors.

St Martins Lane London will host both corporate and agency event planners specialising in the pharmaceutical industry to debate the state of the sector and its potential recovery time.

C&IT editor Yasmin Arrigo commented: "Many agencies are targeting pharma companies for new business opportunities during the recession due to the endurance and proliferation of investigator and education-focussed meetings. The Brand Book Live event will offer an opportunity for event planners to debate openly and share their experiences within the pharmaceutical sector."

C&IT's first ever Brand Book Live event will include roundtables on the automotive, financial, retail, pharmaceutical, telecoms and IT sectors. The roundtables, taking place from 4.45pm, will then be followed by the launch party for C&IT's Brand Book 2009.
