Argentina aims to establish the cities of Mendoza, Bariloche and Rosario within the top 300 C&I destinations by 2011.
Following the launch of a C&I-focused marketing plan two years ago, Argentina's secretary of tourism Carlos Enrique Meyer said today at Imex: "These objectives are established until 2011. We are now mid-term and are very pleased with the announcement last week that in the 2008 ICCA rankings, Argentina is now 22 out of 150 - the marketing plan is already showing results."
However, while Buenos Aires was ranked as one of the 20 most important cities in the ICCA rankings, Meyer announced plans to promote Argentina's lesser-known destinations.
"Buenos Aires is our most important city and we are very proud of it," he said. "But we want to see six or seven of our cities included in the top 300."
Upcoming events to be held in Argentina include the World Allergy Congress and World Forestry Congress this year and the World Congress of Haemophilia in 2010.
