AstraZeneca, Elekta, AFL Architects and Interserve are among the companies sponsoring a prestigious European cancer conference being held in the UK.

The four-day Organisation of Europe Cancer Institutes (OECI) conference is being held from 20 May at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, hosted by The Christie cancer centre.

In previous years, the conference has been held in cities including Genoa, Copenhagen and Athens.

It is expected to bring together around 200 world-class researchers, scientists and medical professionals to advance cancer research, treatment and care.

The Christie medical director Chris Harrison said: "Just two years after joining the OECI, it's an honour that The Christie is playing host, and a real coup for the city of Manchester."
