Leela Palaces announces soft launch of Kempinski Udaipur property

Rajasthan hotel to officially open in September

Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts has announced the soft opening of its sixth property, the Leela Palace Kempinski Udaipur, in India.

The hotel is the Leela group's first property in the state of Rajasthan, and will officially launch in September.

It is located on the banks of Lake Pichola, 45 minutes from Maharana Pratap Airport, just outside the city centre.

The hotel has 80 rooms and suites and offers views of the City Palace, the Aravalli mountains and across the lake, with interiors taking in traditional elements of Rajasthan design and artistry.

Chairman of Leela Palaces chairman Captain C. P. Krishnan Nair commented: "We have built a modern boutique palace, designed by the world-renowned architect Bill Bensley and interior designer Jeffrey Wilkes."

The pool, overlooking Lake Pichola, is joined by an ESPA tented spa, and "intimate meeting space in inspirational surroundings, several meeting rooms, board room, business centre and banquet halls".

Elsewhere, the hotel features a 24-hour outdoor dining area, lounge bar and an Indian speciality restaurant with a roof-top eating area. All restaurants use fresh produce from the property's organic gardens.

More details are to be confirmed ahead of the official September launch.
