Venturi's Table: London cookery centres see rise in client entertainment bookings

London-based cookery centres are seeing a rise in bookings as corporates seek cheaper alternatives to expensive client lunches.

Venturi's Table has experienced a 73 per cent increase in client entertainment bookings between December 2008 and March 2009, compared with the same period last year.

Client entertaining now makes up 33 per cent of the company's business, up from 12 per cent between December 2007 and March 2008.

Venturi's Table managing director Anna Venturi said: "With the instability of the recession people are turning back towards traditional, homely values - it makes sense for companies to tap into this with their clients."

Previous clients include Google, Camelot, BP, Mars, Pricewaterhousecoopers, Tesco, Deutsche Bank, Microsoft, Coca-Cola and Pizza Express.

Chateau Harry, whose previous clients include Unilever, Virgin Galactic and Ernst & Young, said corporate bookings had risen from an average of one per week in 2008 to two per week this year.

Chateau Harry head of corporate events Louise Putt said: "It is a cost-effective way to entertain clients."
