South Australia reports strong C&I bookings despite economic downturn

C&I business in South Australia remains strong despite the global economic downturn, according to the Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority (ACTA).

Some 25 bookings for conferences to be held between July this year and 2012 have been secured in the past nine months, the convention bureau said.

The events are expected to bring 13,000 domestic and international delegates to Adelaide with an economic impact of more than £22m.

The news comes after Incentives Adelaide, a programme of bespoke incentive experiences, was launched last year for small to mid-sized groups.

ACTA chief executive Damien Kitto said: "With a large percentage of our business pitched and planned so far in advance, we're finding people, for the most part, are not stalling their planning."
