Falling discretionary event spend behind Concerto Group redundancies

Ten jobs go at Eventwise, Ultimate Experience and Business Pursuits

Eventwise: three redundancies

A reduction in clients' discretionary event spend has forced the Concerto Group to cut three jobs at Eventwise.

The redundancies have reduced the London Bridge agency's headcount to 12.

A further seven posts have also been cut at the Concerto Group's agencies the Ultimate Experience and Business Pursuits.

All of the redundancies were made at junior to middle level.

The Concerto Group marketing director Sam Gill said the redundancies were made in response to clients reducing their spending events such as parties.

"We have had to decrease our costs in line with demand, and we are forecasting a year-on-year decrease in income in keeping with the market," said Gill. "We haven't taken any other staffing measures besides the redundancies and are focusing in maintaining a highly motivated team."

He added: "Eventwise is still engaged in several major overseas programmes."
