Training budgets are to remain stable throughout 2009 despite the recession, according to a survey carried out by Wyboston Lakes Conference and Training Centres.
A poll of 496 training managers with a collective buying power of £20m per annum, found that more than half (58%) of respondents' training budgets stayed the same as last year.
A further 7% of the respondents claim they had seen an increase in training budgets for 2009, while 27% reported a decrease.
Of those that have seen a reduction in their budgets, 72% said they were holding tough price negotiations to make savings, 12% were reducing the duration of the training session, 11% were organising in-house coaching and 5% were opting for distance learning.
In terms of what is driving venue choice, the survey showed that cost was named as the most important factor, followed by location and ease of access/transport links. The environmental policy of the venue was rated as the least important factor.
