Ci Events is expanding its UK sales force following account wins with telecoms firm Telstra and equity firm MGPA, which helped boost turnover to £3.5m for the year ending June 2009.

The agency plans to appoint two new business development managers, growing the sales team to three people within the next two months. The new roles will focus on attracting new C&I business.

Despite the global economic slowdown, Ci Events general manager (UK and Europe) Penny Lion said it was "a good time for the company to expand".

"We have a great group of clients who continue to conference," she added.

The company's Asian and Australian divisions have strong pharmaceutical links, a sector the UK branch will also target this year.

Ci Events' recent account wins include a conference and an incentive trip to Morocco for Telstra, and events for investment advisory company MGPA in Frankfurt and Athens.

The company expects turnover to increase by 20% for the year ending June 2010.
