Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Tiger Developments are set to open the first Intercontinental hotel in Scotland in 2013.

The 17-storey, 192-room property will open in Edinburgh as part of Tiger Developments' £250m proposal to regenerate the Haymarket area.

IHG president (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Kirk Kinsell said: "The Intercontinental Hotel will be ideally placed to meet the needs of business and leisure travellers seeking world class services and facilities."

Tiger Developments managing director John Nesbitt added: "The hotel will significantly improve Edinburgh's top class hotel offering, bringing an internationally recognised brand and considerable prestige to the city."
