Newcastle Gateshead's C&I offer is to be boosted this year with the opening of five-star Rockliffe Hall.

The 67-room luxury property is located near Darlington and is due to open at the end of the year, but its golf course will be playable from this summer.

Rockliffe Hall will have a 4,645sqm spa, which it claims will be the largest across Newcastle Gateshead, and a 20-metre pool.

It will also offer banqueting space for up to 250 guests.

The golf course will be 7,800 yards - one of Europe's longest.

Rockliffe Hall sales and marketing director Wendy Benson said: "We believe our five-star quality hotel will prove hugely desirable for business tourists coming to the region."
