GL Events Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona (CCIB) general director Félix Martinez Tourino has been killed.

Spanish media is reporting that Tourino was shot on Monday night in Barcelona and that a police investigation is underway.

A statement issued by his company said: "GL Events CCIB would like to express their utmost consternation with regards to the unexpected and dramatic passing of our general director, Mr Félix Martinez Tourino, as well as their condemnation for the circumstances in which it took place last Monday."

"The company would like to point out the extraordinary work carried out by Felix since he joined the company last April, as well as his exceptional human qualities, determination, leadership and great working skills.

"In this especially painful moment, the company wishes to reassert their support to the family, joining them in their deep sorrow."
