Mercedes-Benz World appoints Compass Group

Mercedes-Benz World has appointed Compass Group UK & Ireland following the departure of previous caterer Searcys 1847.

Compass' remit comprises operating the venue's Café 1886, Silver Arrow staff restaurant, conferencing and banqueting services, vending, catering for indoor musical events.

It is also responsible for operating fine-dining restaurant Gullwing, which will close between 27 February and 31 May for refurbishment.

The appointment comes in the wake of Searcys 1847's decision to terminate its catering contract with the venue.

Compass' sport, leisure and hospitality managing director, Matthew Thompson, said: "We are delighted to complete the negotiation process with the Mercedes-Benz contract in hand."

Mercedes-Benz World managing director Peter O'Halloran said: "With 3,000 events under our belt since our launch in 2006, we look forward to working closely with Compass to exceed our guests' expectations and grow our offer as a conferencing venue."
