Agency Fresh is creating what it claims is the most comprehensive green supplier database for the UK events industry.

The collection will include every supplier that complies with the environmental standard ISO 14001, with the aim of encouraging organisations to minimise environmental impact.
The database will be made available to the wider UK events industry by the end of 2009.

For its part, Fresh has said it will "impose the green agenda" on its supply chain and will turn to alternative suppliers if buy-in is not gained from its existing partners.

"It's down to every event stakeholder to show commitment in minimising the industry's effect on our surroundings and working towards a more sustainable future," said Fresh managing director Nick Porter.

"The benefit of this database is that it will enable the event industry to look beyond environmental issues and explore sustainability as a whole."

The Cheadle-based company achieved ISO 14001 status earlier this year and is working towards the BS8901 sustainable events management system.
