India Convention Bureau to woo corporates back

The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) plans to win back corporate groups scared off by the Mumbai terrorist attack by promoting India as an incentive destination at trade shows next year

ICPB is exhibiting at EIBTM and its executive director Rajinder Puri said a number of international groups had cancelled events in India due to last week´s terrorist attack.

Puri anticipated that the number of international business meetings in India would be largely unaffected by the security scare, but there would be fewer incentives.

"We need to promote India to the international incentive markets through trade shows such as IMEX and Confex next year and through the press," he said. ¨"Mumbai is just one small destination and India is so big that there are many other safe areas where incentives can take place."

He forecast that Mumbai´s C&I market would begin to recover in October next year.
