First ever sports careers conference to launch in Sheffield

Ambassador programme helps land event for Yorkshire South venue

Yorkshire South's ambassador programme has captured its biggest event to date - a 5,000-delegate sports careers conference next spring.

The two-day Careers in Sport and Leisure event at Sheffield Arena on 25-26 March 2009 is forecast to bring an estimated £100,000 to the city.

Billed as the first national careers exhibition dedicated to the sports and leisure sectors, it will feature seminars, workshops, an exhibition and partner events.

Ambassadors at Sheffield Hallam University helped Yorkshire South secure the conference, bringing the total value of ambassador-brokered events to £712,000.

A further £646,000 worth of live enquiries are currently being processed by the Yorkshire South Conference team.

"When looking at where to host the event there were a number of choices, but once we met with Yorkshire South and visited the Arena we felt that it was fitting to hold such an event in the first nationally recognised city of sport," said Jonathan Wilson, managing director of event organiser 110% Marketing.
