Aimee Kimerling is project manager at UK Oracle User Group (OUG), which holds its annual Scotland Conference and Exhibition, a one-day educational and networking event, in Glasgow

Why Glasgow? We originally chose the city because it provides the best venues to serve our users in Scotland. In 2007, the event was staged at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Glasgow, and we also chose to hold this year's event at the Radisson in October.

What do you like about the Radisson? It suits our group size of 250-300, and we need four syndicates for fairly large numbers and the hotel could supply them in one area, so delegates did not have to go to different floors for break-outs. It is also close to public transport, which is a major factor for us. Lastly, the staff are professional and we have been using this venue for a few years now, so it's like going to see old friends.

What is the objective of the event? To allow Oracle users to meet and exchange views with like-minded organisations, meet key Oracle staff, and influence the way the Scottish group is run, plus learn about the latest hot topics.

What does it comprise? This year, there were sessions presented by senior Oracle lecturers, customers and Partners. An exhibition including key Oracle partners and suppliers of Oracle products and services is open throughout the day. The event concluded with a drinks reception for networking.

What makes Glasgow good for events? It is a very easy city to get around, everything seems easily accessible. The trains come directly into the centre of town and there are plenty of restaurants, bars and hotels all within walking distance.
