BP names six agencies on roster

Venues Event Management, The Phoenix Partners, World Events, Grass Roots Group, Hamilton Rose, and D&D Conferences win places on the roster

BP has unveiled the six firms on its first centralised event management roster.

Venues Event Management, The Phoenix Partners, World Events, Grass Roots Group, Hamilton Rose and D&D Conferences are confirmed for the two-year contract that covers BP and Castrol.

Before the recent tender process, BP did not have specific contracts with preferred agencies or suppliers so the intent of the tender was to streamline and simplify the procurement process.

The tender went out to 40 agencies and while the annual spend for this account is confidential, it has been described as "a multi-million pound contract".

The scope of the contract covers any events required for UK-based BP staff taking place in the UK and Internationally.

The venue-finding roster will be subject to a further tender process during 2009 - thought to be in the early part of the year.

Venues Event Management chief executive Anita Lowe said: "As you can imagine, we are delighted with the news. We have worked with BP for a number of years and have an excellent understanding of their brand values and company policies and this stood us in good stead throughout the tender process."

Jodie Beers, sourcing specialist, Europe, at BP said: "We met with 40 companies in order to arrive at our roster. Several stakeholders from across the business were involved in the process including a large number in the final presentations."
