Newcastle Gateshead is targeting London-based event planners with a showcase in the capital on 9 October.

Up to 30 of the region's venues, hotels, transport providers and C&I organisations will showcase their wares at the event, which is being organised by Newcastle Gateshead Convention Bureau at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf.

Among the exhibitors are The Sage Gateshead, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead, and Newcastle United FC.

The event is aimed at London-based meeting planners, agencies and conference organisers.

Jessica Roberts, head of business tourism at destination marketing agency Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, said: "The showcase provides an opportunity to meet a diverse selection of venues, hotels and facilities and gives conference organisers and planners insight into our destination's unique offer. Several high-profile conferences have been secured on the back of the showcase, and we hope this year's event will inspire organisers, planners and buyers to host major new conferences here in the long-term future."
