Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is boosting central China's C&I offering with the addition of 1,300 new rooms in 2012.

The group has signed deals to manage two new hotels in Wuhan, situated on the Yangtze River.

Intercontinental Wuhan and Holiday Inn Wuhan New City will offer a combined total of 1,300 rooms.

The properties will be part of the 1,000,000sqm Wuhan New City International Expo Centre. Wuhan New City is still under construction and is anticipated to become an economic powerhouse.

IHG Greater China chief operating officer Edmond Ip said: "Wuhan is a growing base for the automotive industry, and this, combined with its rising status as a regional business centre will drive demand within the C&I market and provide a solid revenue stream for both hotels."
