The Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre has opened in the city centre.

The 228-room property will be operated by Centre Island following its £32 million investment in the project. Hotel general manager Bob Fairweather said: "We have had a great deal of interest from corporate clients for conferences and other events".

Facilities include nine meeting rooms that can seat a maximum of 200 delegates theatre-style, an executive boardroom, two breakout areas and free wireless internet access will also be available.

Liverpool-based Centre Island is also due to open an Express by Holiday Inn property in Manchester in the first quarter of 2009.
