Eventia "keen to continue" DMAI partnership

Pre-merger agreement signed by BACD paying dividends, trade body says

Eventia is looking to continue the partnership with the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), agreed between the global trade body and the UK's British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) last year.

The deal saw BACD members gain free membership of DMAI. BACD and Eventia have subsequently merged, but Tony Rogers - former BACD chief executive and currently working with Eventia as a project director - said both sides were keen for the relationship to continue.

"We set up a formal two-year relationship which runs until June 2009 and our members have seen good benefits from it, including free access to DMAI training and complementary copies of its annual destination trends report," Rogers said. "I am due to meet with my DMAI colleagues next month to review the relationship and discuss the merger and very much hope the partnership continues."

The news comes as the DMAI announces its place as the eighth member of the Brussels-based Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC), alongside ICCA, MPI, SITE, IAPCO, COCAL, AIPC and ECM.

Rogers is due to address DMAI delegates in Stockholm this October at the organisation's CEO Forum, which is attended by European and North American destination leaders.
