United Drug, owner of agencies Universal CIT and Procon, will merge the two to form one company on October 1 in a move it claims will create "a powerful player in the world of healthcare event management".

"This move provides an exciting opportunity to combine the skills to offer a bigger, better and more complete service to new and existing clients", a statement from the company says.

The new company will be called Universal Procon Ltd in the UK and Universal Procon Inc in the US and will continue to operate from the two UK offices in Harrogate and Slough, as well as our three US offices in Stamford CT, Indianapolis IN and Orlando FL.

The company will be led by current Universal managing director Mike Ford. He said of the move: "We truly believe that by coming together, Universal Procon will be the leading healthcare full-service event management agency, providing a wider range of services to a growing audience spanning the UK, US, Europe and beyond. In the coming months we look forward to revealing our new brand identity to support our new look organisation."
