Lincolnshire Agricultural Society is seeking a developer to build a hotel to accompany its eco-friendly venue, the Epic Centre.

A spate of bookings at the Lincoln venue, which opened in June, has prompted the society to hire business agent Christie & Co to secure a developer to build a hotel and restaurant on the 270-acre showground site.

Society treasurer Jane Hiles said it was inconvenient for visitors and exhibitors to travel from their accommodation to the venue.

"People come from all over the country to the events at the showground but there is nowhere for them to stay, so there is a real need for a hotel with direct access to the venue, " said Hiles.

Some 2.6 acres of the site is being offered on a leasehold basis to developers. The society and West Lindsey District Council intend working closely with the developers to ensure the development is in keeping with the venue's environmentally friendly make-up.
