Visit London, Visit Britain and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) have teamed up to create an industry group to maximise business tourism opportunities ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

The team will develop a range of initiatives and share knowledge among the industry to promote business tourism across the whole of the UK. Other plans include knowledge workshops, networking events and an annual industry conference to be launched next year at International Confex.

Representatives from Visit London, Visit Britain and LOCOG will make up the group's senior team. It will be headed by London Eye managing director and Merlin Entertainment Group divisional director of London midway attractions, David Sharpe.

The full team will be revealed at Event UK on 17 September. The announcement follows the creation of the 2012 UK Events Industry Fair Price and Practices Charter set to go live this month. The supplier pricing initiative is being led by Visit London.
