What's the lowdown? First Event director Richard Murphy bought out business partner Andy Orrah in June to become sole owner of the agency. Murphy paid an undisclosed sum to Orrah, who has agreed to resign from the post of director to take on a part-time consultancy role at the firm. Orrah founded the agency, originally as a division of Morgan Travel, in 1999.
Targeting any sectors? Manufacturing and IT. "We've also been going after the recruitment industry and recently won two large accounts," says Murphy. "It's sales driven and aggressive, so they need to motivate staff and that marries up with the product we're offering."
Client list: Includes HBOS and Interfloor.
Dream client: Richard Branson: "Because he doesn't stick to the rules when it comes to Virgin's events and he would be open to creative suggestions," says Murphy.
Currently pitching for: A two-year contract with an IT firm, a meeting and incentive in 2010 for a manufacturer, and two other IT firm events in 2010.
Five-year business plan: "The company's turnover will double from £5m to £10m and the staff team will double in size as well," says Murphy.
