Eventia to set up fees committee

Eventia is to set up a research committee in an effort to establish an industry standard for fee-based charging by agencies. The announcement was made by new chairman Patrick Collins in his closing address at the Summer Eventia conference in Manchester. “It is vital we create one recognised pricing model for the whole industry,” Collins said, before asking Eventia members to volunteer to join a steering group for the project. The decision came in response to a session earlier this morning from Collins’ colleague at Universal, Mike Ford, and Banks Sadler managing director Leigh Jagger entitled ‘The great rate debate’. The session saw Ford call on the industry and educators to present fee-only charging as the norm, while Jagger warned against retaining commission-based revenue streams. “Creating an industry standard will be difficult, but transparent billing is the way the industry is moving,” she said. “It depends whether we want to embrace it and be proactive, or merely react to it.”
